It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of 60+ year Life Member and Ex-Chief, Neil Gollogly.
Neil grew up in the Sleepy Hollow / Tarrytown area and served in the United States Navy. He held many roles within the fire company, including Chief, Safety Officer, Company President, Company Treasurer and longtime Vice President of our Benevolent Board of Directors. He also served on the Board of Fire Commissioners, and was instrumental in securing the property and getting Station 2 built.
Outside of Millwood, Neil was a lead organizer of the Westchester County Parade Judges Association, serving as a Charter Member, Chaplain, President, Vice President, and Chief Judge.
We will miss Neil for his knowledge, voice of reason, kindness, and especially his infectious smile around the firehouse.
Funeral Arrangements: - Friday, June 6, 2-4pm and 6-9pm: Wake at Clark Funeral Home in Yorktown. Fire department service at 7:30pm - Saturday, June 7, 10:30am: Mass at St. Patrick’s Church in Yorktown, followed by Internment in Sleepy Hollow
On behalf of the Gollogly family, I want to extend our deepest thanks for the extraordinary care, respect, and honor you gave our father, Neil Francis Gollogly.
His decades of service with the Millwood Fire Company were a defining part of his life and character, and seeing the brotherhood and tradition he so loved reflected in his finals days and at his wake and funeral meant more to us than words can truly express. The ceremonial honors, the speeches shared, and the processional 'parade' showed the depth of your respect for Neil's legacy and the man you knew as a fellow firefighter, leader, and friend.
Our father was deeply proud to have served with you, from his earliest days in 1958, through his time as Chief and Fire Commissioner, and into his later years of continued support and camaraderie. The tribute you paid him was a testament to the bonds of service and community he held dear and what makes Millwood unique.
Please know how much your support and presence comforted us during our loss. We are forever grateful.
With heartfelt appreciation, Kathy Gollogly (Heist) and the Gollogly Family
