Our 100th year was the busiest year in history for your Millwood volunteers! Millwood FC responded to 414 incidents this year, including 141 mutual aid requests throughout Westchester County. Members spent over 3,400 hours on calls and 2,300 hours on training in 2024.
Millwood FC handled a variety of different of emergencies in 2024, including: - Alarm Activations: 189 - Rescue/EMS: 69 - Good Intent: 42 - Structural / Brush / Car Fire-Related Calls: 39, including 28 that involved requests for mutual aid - Service: 31 - Hazardous Conditions: 24 - Gas Emergency: 1
Our top responders of 2024 were: - 1st Lt. Tom Harris: 346 (84%) - 2nd Lt. Choire Sicha: 278 (67%) - FF Will Field: 209 (51%) - Driver Training Instructor Jan Schwark: 191 (46%) - 3rd Lt. Josh Howard: 172 (42%)
All 3 of our chiefs also responded to over 50% of calls in 2024: - Chief Jorge Rodrigues: 386 (93%) - 1st Assistant Chief Rob McCarthy: 214 (52%) - 2nd Assistant Chief Greg Santone: 406 (98%)
Millwood FC had many notable events in 2024, including: - The celebration of our 100th Anniversary - Honoring the passing of Ex-Chief Ray Lips and Life Member Roy Rich - Collecting items for hurricane relief in North Carolina - Receiving a grant from NYS Senator Peter Harckham for the purchase of our new firefighting UTV, Mini-Attack 35
We’re proud to have 5 members complete New York State Firefighter 1 and / or Basic Exterior Firefighting Operations (BEFO) this year: - Firefighter Bernardo Trucido - Firefighter David Valdez - Firefighter David Yun - Firefighter Melissa Howard - Firefighter Steven Brockliss
2 of our officers completed the updated Fire Officer classes offered at the Westchester County Fire Training Center, with 2 more currently working through the classes.
Millwood FC members also participated in over 1,600 hours of community events, including New Castle Community Day, multiple Touch-a-Truck events, Fire Prevention events, and more.
Throughout 2024, Millwood FC participated in numerous parades, including the New Castle Memorial Day Parade, and won trophies at parades in Pleasantville, Katonah, Thornwood, Ossining, and Mt. Kisco.
