At 4:11pm yesterday afternoon, Millwood FD was dispatched to a reported injured hiker in the back of Gedney Park with Chappaqua VAC and Westchester EMS 45Medic4. Car 2253 (Chief Santone) was first on scene and located the injured hiker in the woods in the very back of the park. Upon the arrival of Car 2251 (Chief Rodrigues) and Rescue 36, packaging equipment, including a backboard and stokes, was brought to the patient's location and Millwood's team of EMTs, EMRs, and CFRs initiated patient care. When Chappaqua VAC and 45M4 arrived on scene, Millwood members transitioned to focus on packaging and safely removing the patient from the woods. Utilizing our brand new Polaris UTV, the patient was loaded onto the transport tray in the bed and was safely transported to an awaiting Chappaqua VAC ambulance. All units were cleared of the scene within an hour.
