Structure Fires in Mt. Kisco and Elmsford
Email Print RSS Facebook Twitter RSS

July 22, 2024

Just before 1:30 yesterday afternoon, Millwood FD Engine 247 was requested to relocate to Mt. Kisco FD HQ while they operated at a 2nd alarm structure fire in their district. Moments after dispatch, Car 2253 (Chief Santone) and Engine 247 were on the road and were upgraded to respond directly to the fire scene. While responding, Incident Command upgraded the fire to a 3rd alarm, bringing in more resources. Upon arrival on scene, defensive operations were beginning, meaning that no firefighters were to enter the structure due to deteriorating conditions. Car 2253 became the Safety Officer on scene and the crew on Engine 247 assisted with operating handlines on the front and rear of the structure. When it was declared safe to do so, the Engine 247 crew re-established a handline in the rear of the structure to make another interior push. Millwood members operated on scene for 4 hours before returning to service

While a full crew was operating in Mt. Kisco, Millwood FD Rescue 36 was dispatched to the scene of another structure fire in the Elmsford FD district as the cascade unit. Rescue 36 was on the road moments later. After arriving on scene, a 2nd alarm was struck, bringing in additional resources. Millwood members arrived on scene and assisted with refilling the air bottles for nearly 3 hours before returning to service.

While both incidents were ongoing, Car 2251 (Chief Rodrigues) and a crew on Engine 248 remained on district to cover any additional calls that came in.
