Millwood FD volunteers responded to 50 calls for service in February and March, including 9 mutual aid structure fire requests for Rescue 36, Ladder 52, and Tanker 15 to respond around the county to assist departments such as Dobbs Ferry FD, Croton-on-Hudson FD (where both Ladder 52 and Tanker 15 were requested) Buchanan FD, Briarcliff Manor FD, Chappaqua FD, and Elmsford FD. We also had an in-district structure fire, quickly extinguished with the assistance of several neighboring departments.
Over 20 members attended our drills this month, including: - TOAC (Task Oriented Air Consumption Drill) - First Aid - CPR - Stop the Bleed - Cold Water Rescue
Numerous members began or completed milestones in their career with Millwood FD: - 1 probationary firefighter was promoted to an interior firefighter - 4 new members joined our department - 5 members attended their first in-house probationary firefighter class - 2 drivers were passed off on new apparatus
Millwood FD members also hosted / participated in numerous events in February and March , including: - Our first community CPR class that was a great success and we plan to continue holding regularly - Recruitment drive outside of DeCicco & Sons Millwood - "Read Out Loud" Week at Roaring Brook Elementary School - Local Cub Scouts visit to Station 1 for a tour of our station and apparatus
