Car Fire, MVA, and Mutual Aid Structure Fire in Less than 24 Hours
January 21, 2024
Just after 1:30pm yesterday afternoon, Millwood FD was dispatched to a motor vehicle fire on Route 100 in the area of Random Farms Drive. Car 2253 (Chief Santone) was first on scene and confirmed a fully involved car fire with all occupants out of the vehicle. When Engine 247 arrived on scene, members stretched a 100ft trash line from the bumper to extinguish the fire. To ensure there was enough water on scene, Tanker 15 responded to provide an additional 3,000 gallons of water. Shortly after getting to the scene, Millwood FD was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on Seven Bridges Road. Car 2251 (Chief Rodrigues) and Rescue 36 responded from the car fire to this incident. Units confirmed the location of the accident and began mitigating the hazards and initiating patient care prior to the arrival of Chappaqua Volunteer Ambulance Corps. While members were committed to both incidents, a crew was at Station 1 to staff Ladder 52 in the event of another incident in our district. Units returned to service from both incidents within 1 hour.
At 6am this morning, Millwood FD Rescue 36 was requested to respond mutual aid to serve as the cascade unit at a residential structure fire in Elmsford Fire Department's district. Car 2253 and Rescue 36 responded and arrived on scene to assist with filling air bottles of members of various departments as they fought a fire that was rapidly spreading throughout the home. Once the fire was declared under control by command, Millwood FD members assisted with breaking down hoses and other equipment, and returned to service after 2 hours on scene.
