Beginning just after 11pm last night, Millwood FD was dispatched to a reported head-on motor vehicle accident in front of Seven Bridges Middle School. First arriving units confirmed the head-on collision and shut down the road. Millwood FD members assisted with scene safety, hazard mitigation and patient care prior to the arrival of Westchester EMS 45Medic 1 and Westchester County EMS 89B3. 89B3 transported 2 patients to Westchester Medical Center and Millwood units kept the road closed for 1 hour before returning to service.
At 12:15am, Millwood FD Tanker 15 was requested mutual aid to Mt. Kisco FD's district on a reported electrical fire in the non-hydranted part of their district. Car 2252 (Chief McCarthy), 2253 (Chief Santone), and Tanker 15 responded moments after dispatch. Mt. Kisco FD and Millwood FD members arrived on scene to find an issue with multiple power outlets in the building. Members worked together to secure the power in the building. Millwood units remained on service for about an hour before going back in service.
Just before 9am this morning, Millwood FD was dispatched to a reported motor vehicle fire on Acker Road. Car 2253 was first on scene and reported an active fire in garbage truck. The operator of the garbage truck was able to empty his truck on the road to prevent a dangerous fire spread to the truck itself. Engine 247 arrived on scene and members quickly hooked-up to a hydrant and stretched a handline to begin extinguishing the fire. Members from Engine 247, Engine 248, and Rescue 36 extinguished the fire through the use of water and foam, and conducted overhaul to find any hot spots. Units remained on scene for just over an hour before returning to service.
