Millwood FD Responds to First Due Structure Fire
Email Print RSS Facebook Twitter RSS

December 16, 2021

At 9:30 yesterday morning, Millwood Fd was dispatched with an engine from Chappaqua FD and a FASTeam from Mt. Kisco FD to a reported electrical fire in a shed, possibly attached to a house. Ladder 52 responded shortly after dispatch and reported a working fire in the pool building attached to the main structure. Moments later, Car 2252 (Chief Rodrigues) arrived on scene and transmitted the 10-75 (working fire), bringing additional mutual aid resources to the scene, including Ossining FD Tower Ladder 42, Chappaqua VAC, Pleasantville VAC Rehab unit, and Westchester County Battalion 17.

The first-arriving crew of Ladder 52 quickly stretched a hoseline from the driveway to begin their initial attack. Shortly after, Engine 247 arrived and hit the hydrant to supply water to the ladder. Initial crews split into 2 teams to operate a hoseline and cut a hole in the roof of the structure. Mutual aid companies helped bring tools to the structure, assisted with fire suppression, and helped with overhaul. Through the quick work of all members on scene, the fire did not extend to the main structure of the home. Units operated on scene for 2 hours before returning to service.

A special thank you to Briarcliff Manor FD Engine 92 and Mt. Kisco FD Tower Ladder 14 for covering our Station 1, as well as Montrose FD Engine 123 and Pocantico Hills FD Tanker 12 for covering Station 2 for the duration of this incident.
