For our weekly drill on Tuesday evening, Millwood FD members utilized Westorchard Elementary School to practice a multitude of skills that we use at different emergencies. First, members reviewed ladder company operations, including skills such as laddering roofs and throwing ground ladders. Next, members reviewed how to hit hydrants and flow water through different types of nozzles. Finally, members reviewed the assortment of different tools that are carried on our rescue. While it started to rain on us, we took advantage of the weather and were able to practice our skills with this extra variable. This "back to basics" type of training is extremely valuable and important to constantly review to prepare for any emergency situation.
