On Tuesday evening, Millwood FD members gathered at Station 2 to conduct our annual bailout certification. The bailout certification and training ensures that all interior members understand what to do if they get trapped in a structure and need to use their bailout systems on their turnout gear to evacuate quickly and safely. To become certified, members must go through a simulated scenario, first calling a "mayday" and stating what side of the structure they will be bailing out of over the radio, properly deploying their bailout system, creating a secure anchor point with their anchor hook, safely rolling out of the window, and using their descender to control the speed of their descent from the window to safely make it to the ground.
