Just after 7pm last night, Millwood FD was dispatched with Ossining VAC to a reported motor vehicle rollover off the roadway on the Taconic State Parkway northbound. Car 2251 (Chief Rodrigues) and Car 2253 (Chief Santone) arrived on scene with New Castle PD and New York State Police and confirmed a vehicle had left the roadway, rolled over, and landed back on its wheels on top of brush down an embankment, knocking down a tree onto the roadway which caused damage to four additional vehicles. Upon the arrival of Car 2252 (Chief McCarthy) with Rescue 36 and then Engine 247 and Mini-Attack 10, Millwood FD members created a safe working area on the highway, stabilized the vehicle, and worked to mitigate additional hazards. Fortunately all injuries were minor. Units remained on scene for almost two hours at the request of NYS Police while tow truck crews worked to remove the vehicle to ensure their safety.
