My Father John was the first lieutenant at the Millwood Fire Department back in the '68 and 69 and then we moved to Vermont had we stayed he would have made Captain eventually we used to live in 10 Henry place dad was 80 when he passed that was 7 years ago. At the time the fire chief was also at the end of Henry place I can't remember his name I was only eight. But thanks for all the good work you do I know my dad would have been proud to stay there but financial situation forced us to move I've been back once to the town where I went to school 50 plus years ago it still makes me smile thank you guys
I grew up in Millwood prior to enlisting in WW2 as a college freshman. You certainly have a splended fire protection department. I was a memb er briefly Spring of 1943 while waiting to be calledc to duty. My name is on the Honor Roll that was next to the first fire house. My father, Carl, was a fire commissioned in the late 1930s . I remember when the "horn" was installed to call firemen. Millwood hosted a firemen parade for the first time in the late 30s.
It closed Route 100 and ran from about the Taconic parkway bridge north to the end of housing on Route 100. There was a huge refresmhent tent at the close. Oh I forgot to report that my Mother Rose was Ladies Auxiliary treasurer as well. The fire house was used for voting, family parties, basketball..it was the social center as well. I have written historical stuff for the Horace Greeley Sports Boosters computer column for ,the past three years but this is my first Millwood FD attempt.
KINDEST PERSONAL REGARDS Don Reynolds, Springfield Va now nearly 95.
Superb Webpage, Stick to the very good job.
With thanks.

Dear Greg Santone & Millwood Fire Company,
Thank you so much for participating in our “Adopt a Fire House” program that “My Brother Vinny” and the “The Yorktown Heights Engine Company #1” coordinated to help the Breezy Point Fire Departments still recovering from the effects of Hurricane Sandy. When we first received a phone call asking for help we did not expect to see the fire houses and residents still so far along in the recovery process. With your generous donation of 3 – 5 ft wedges, we were able to help the Fire Department have a nice meal and Rocky's Deli was generous to donate Gatorade for something for them to drink other than water! These donations were accompanied by so many donations such as; couches, chain saws, water, clothing, thermals, hats, gloves, water cans and our list is still continuing.
We have made a commitment to ensure that the Point Breeze Fire Department, Rockaway Point and the Roxbury Point Fire Department know we are a friend they can count on and we will be in it for the long haul to help them along the recovery process. We are currently waiting for our next list of items needed; please stay tuned and thank you so much for participating in our previous donation day!
Words cannot express my gratitude for everything you have done to assist us. I truly believe when you help others the world becomes your family. Thank you for being part of the “My Brother Vinny” family and helping our organization and Yorktown Heights Engine Company #1 help Breezy Point!
Sincerely,
Paula Miritello

I was a member 1980-1982, before I moved down south. This site is wonderful and reminds me of the too-short time I had in the Company. I learned a lot and will never forget the great experience. Looks like you are all serving the District well as always!

I grew up in Millwood and am proud to call many of you, my friends. I am so proud of the growth, experience, dedication I see from your website. It was a pleasure to go to each catagory, it was like a trip down memory lane. I was sadden by the passing of past chiefs that I had the pleasure of knowing. I salute them for being a brave part of your history and I salute present members for continuing to serve your community faithfully. Thank you for the past and thank you for the future. Keep Safe.

Fantastic site - It is a far cry from the Millwood FD of the 80's when we would scrabble to jump a truck only to find that most were false alarms. Congratulations Millwood!
The Hollow Rock Volunteer Fire Department in Carroll County, Tennessee is proud to be the current home for your retired 1982 Kenworth/E-One.
